The 2004 Santa Barbara County Syrah combines fruit from all the vineyards we work with. Big and bold, this blend is always more than the sum of its parts. It is powerful, dark, tar-y stuff., with a sweet, full finish. It shows cherry, mineral, spice flavors. It shares the same farming and winemaking techniques as our vineyard designated wines to produce a wine of great complexity and lower price. (838 cases produced)
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
A good value, the 2004 Syrah Santa Barbara exhibits an opaque blue/purple color along with a gorgeous bouquet of smoked meats, blackberries, and blue fruits, wonderful density, an opulent/voluptuous texture, and deep, richly fruity flavors that reveal no hard edges. This realistically priced, knock-out Syrah should drink well for 3-4 years.
Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar
Deep ruby. Musky aromas of black fruits, gunflint, meat and espresso. Sweet, chewy flavors of dark berries, meat and mocha, with some funky reductive qualities. Finishes with slightly rough tannins.
